So my first photography class was about 3 weeks ago and was all about learning the vocabulary (f-stop, aperture, ISO) and how to actually turn the camera on. In the 2nd class, we learned some fun things about focus and depth of field. Here are some shots I took up on my roof deck this afternoon to try these things out... I think some of these are probably a bit over-exposed as I realized I hadn't changed one of my settings back from class. Oh well - check them out anyways...
Scenery shot...
Placed the chair in front - now I'm getting some bluriness of the background..
And then added my N cup...
Decreasing the depth of field by increasing the focal length...
Focus is now on the chair...
Focus now on the buildings in the background..
Here are just some other pictures I took while practicing up on the roof...
That's it for now....let me know what you think!
